6 Tandem Flights Over 1,000 Feet!

Miami Hang Gliding's Level I program is your entry into the world of modern hang gliding From the protected waters of south Biscayne Bay. Our custom designed boat will tow you, in the pilot harness, and our certified instructor safely into the air. When released from the towline at over 1,000 feet, you will literally glide across the air, getting a bird’s eye view of Miami and the keys, the way they were meant to be seen, by water and by air.

In the most advanced training program hang gliding has to offer, you will learn how to launch, fly and land a hang glider over Biscayne Bay with a USHGA certified instructor.

The United States Hang Gliding Association verifies that Miami Hang Gliding is a certified hang gliding school. At the end of Level I, you will take a written USHGA certification test that will qualify you for your USHGA rating. Any incorrect answers will be fully explained by an instructor.

Hang gliders are controlled by shifting the pilot's weight with respect to the glider. Pilots are suspended from a hang strap connected to the glider's frame (hence the name "hang" glider). By moving forward and backward and side to side at the end of this hang strap, the pilot alters the center of gravity of the glider. This then causes the glider to pitch or roll in the direction of the pilot's motion and thus allows both speed control and turning.

Our instructors are certified for airworthiness by the Hang Glider Manufacturers Assn. (HGMA). Also, hang gliding instruction has been standardized and students learn from certified instructors using a thorough gradual training program.

Level I Hang Gliding Program Sightseeing and Highlights Include:

• Six tandem flights with a certified tandem instructor to an altitude of over 1,000 feet
• A friend may ride on the boat free of charge
• Simulated in-flight training lessons on basic weight shift control of the hang glider
• A training video is available for viewing

Tandem Instruction will include:

• Launch techniques
• Pitch control
• Roll control
• In flight maneuvers
• Water landing

Ground School will cover:

• Hang glider components and terminology
• The set up and break down of a hang glider
• Hang glider safety skills, including: Pre-flight, Hang Check and Pre-Launch Techniques
• Weight shift training on a hang glider simulator

This tour must be booked at least 24 hours in advance of your travel date. Your confirmation for this product will be received within 12- 24 hours subject to availability.

Cancellation and No Show Policy

Cancellations within 24 hours of the tour are charged in full. Cancellations prior to 24 hours are charged a minimum $10.00 per person administration fee. We charge for NO SHOWS. No Shows on tour dates are charged 100%. Some specific tours and activities have a higher cancellation fee due to the limited space available.

Bring swimsuit, sunscreen and towel

Recommended for all tours in Miami: Comfortable shoes, extra layer of warm clothing, hats, visors and sunglasses.

Weather: Tour route or activity may be changed depending on local weather conditions.

Meals, Gratuities and Souvenirs are not included.
